NOMINEE INSTRUCTIONS

COMPLETE THE ONLINE NOMINATION FORM

After you login, you should see six nomination sections on the left navigation.  You are responsible for completing “Student Information,” “Extracurricular Activities, Employment, Honors, and Awards,” “Extracurricular Statement,” “Interest Statement,”  and “Essay.”  Your counselor will complete the (optional) test scores area of “Student Information”, and will upload the required attachments in “Attachments”. You will be responsible for asking for a letter of recommendation from a teacher and having that teacher submit the letter to your counselor in order for it to be attached.

Student Information

You are responsible for filling out the “My Information” section only.  Your counselor will fill out the sections “High School Information” and (optional) “Test Scores.”  MAKE SURE YOU HIT “SAVE” BEFORE YOU GO TO THE NEXT PAGE OR YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING YOU TYPED!

Extracurricular Activities, Employment, Honors, and Awards

You can enter as many activities, employment, honors and awards as you like.  After you are finished making an entry, simply hit the “save” button and a new entry box will appear.  Once you are finished with entering all your extracurricular activities, employment, honors, and awards, make sure you hit the “save” button one final time before you go to the next page.

Extracurricular Statement

In 200-300 words, please tell us about one of your extracurricular activities that you found particularly fulfilling and what made it so; or tell us about what you consider to be your most significant involvement in or contribution to your school or community.MAKE SURE YOU HIT “SAVE” BEFORE YOU GO TO THE NEXT PAGE OR YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING YOU TYPED!

Then in an original essay of approximately 600 to 800 words (citations do not count toward the 600-800 words), present your analysis of the issue and your response to the question, noting the strongest competing arguments.

Our faculty committee will place special emphasis on the significance and clear focus of the question you pose as well as on your account of competing arguments and on the quality of the evidence, thinking, and writing shown in your analysis and response. Please provide appropriate acknowledgement of any sources on which you have relied. MAKE SURE YOU HIT “SAVE” BEFORE YOU GO TO THE NEXT PAGE OR YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING YOU TYPED!

Attachments

You will be responsible for contacting a teacher who has taught you in an academic class and having them submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf directly to your counselor in a sealed envelope or via email so your counselor can upload and attach it.  Your counselor should also write a letter of recommendation. Your counselor will be responsible for attaching your transcript, the two letters of recommendation, and senior courses.

SUBMIT YOUR FORM TO YOUR COUNSELOR FOR APPROVAL

YOU ARE NOT FINISHED UNTIL YOU HIT YOUR “SUBMIT NOMINATION for APPROVAL” BUTTON!

NOTE: You will not receive confirmation that your nomination form has been submitted to your counselor. Only your counselor will receive confirmation after they perform the final submit.

Before you are ready to submit your form to your counselor for their approval, take a minute to double-check to make sure you have everything filled out properly and accurately.  After you have completed this final check, hit your “Submit Nomination for Approval” button.  Once you hit this button, an automatic email message will be sent to your counselor informing them that you are finished and are ready for them to conduct their final review and to make sure all the required documents are attached.  It is a good idea for you to verbally notify your counselor when you are finished as well.  If you do not see this button at the top of your screen, then you have left something blank on your form that needs to be filled in. Once you hit your “submit for approval” button, you will not be allowed to log back in and make any changes to your nomination form unless you ask your counselor to give you access again.

NOTE:  By hitting the “Submit Nomination for Approval” button, your online nomination form is NOT sent to the Wells Scholars Program.  Your counselor is the only person that can perform a final submit of your online nomination form.

All materials from both you AND your counselor are due by

11:59pm E.S.T., Friday, November 1st, 2024

NOTE:  The system will automatically shut down at midnight and you will not be able to access the system after this time.
